Solid Double-Leaf Temporary Gate

The temporary solid double-leaf gate, 4600 mm wide, gives vehicle access to the site without breaking the continuity of trapezoidal sheet hoarding.

A clear opening of 4600 × 2000 mm takes delivery vehicles, mixer trucks and most plant that enters a structural site. Two leaves instead of one halve the opening radius, which where hoarding stands close to the site edge is often the only workable answer.

Why the gate has to be solid

Trapezoidal sheet hoarding is put up to stop dust, noise and view. Fitting a mesh gate into it opens a hole several metres wide in that screen, exactly where most plant passes through — which is where dust is worst. A solid gate keeps the line tight.

Wind acts harder on a gate than on hoarding

A solid leaf 2.3 m wide is a plane hung on hinges with no support at mid-span. In a stronger gust an open leaf tears out the post or bends the hinges. The gate therefore stands on posts anchored more firmly than ordinary panels, and the leaves are secured in the open position rather than left loose.
