Bumper Type U3

The U3 type bumper shares the dimensions of U2 but has a reinforced construction, which translates into better absorption of impact energy.

Identical geometry means U3 fits the same places and the same anchor holes as the lighter version. The difference lies in the construction of the hoop, not in how much room it takes — a very practical property when raising the level of protection in an existing hall.

Same geometry, different answer to an impact

An under-specified bumper bends and passes the remaining energy onward — first into the anchors, then into whatever it was meant to protect. The reinforcement in U3 moves that threshold: the hoop absorbs more before it starts feeding energy into the floor. At the same impact force, the difference can be that one bumper needs replacing while the other only needs inspecting.

When reinforcement pays

The simplest signal is history: if a bumper at a given point has already been replaced, the specification was too light. Repeat damage in the same spot is not bad luck but information about the real loading, which no design assumption shows.
